The Progression of a Birthday Cake (by a troop of amateurs)

For Dominque's birthday celebration, Brooke, Alexis, Amber, Melissa, and I all got together on Thursday night with sheet cakes and frosting to make Dominique a "fabulous" birthday cake. Or so we attempted :-)

This is where it began to fall apart. Literally.

Then we got distracted with TV. 

Six layers people.  Six.  Layers.

Of course a little wine was involved.

Then time for shaping! Ace of Cakes ain't got nothin' on us.

It all was going wonderfully until we had to use the fondant. Then it ended up like this:

At this point we called it a night (10:30pm) and late Friday afternoon Alexis and I were able to slap some frosting on it to get this final product.
