You know, it used to be that if you set your alarm clock early, pulled yourself out of bed, and made it to the stores by 5am, you were in prime buying position. Now you have to make it there by 3am. Or midnight. Or 5pm Thanksgiving evening. I'm all for sales, but is making a buck so much more important than enjoying time with friends and family? Or asking your employees to give that up? Come on people, its 12 flippin' hours difference and its the same people shopping either way.
Okay, stepping off my soap box.
Friday morning Kim, Stephanie, Shelly, Sheyanne and I braced ourselves for the 6am madness at Fred Meyer. Black Friday is their famous sock sale and we always score pretty well (too bad by the time we got there, the real die-hards who had been shopping for 12 hours already picked the place clean. How'd that soap box get back over here? Putting it away again). We spent a bundle, caught up, made fun of other peoples' purchases (lime green body pillow anyone?), and celebrated Shelly's BIRTHDAY!
We hit up the mall and Target before collapsing into our usual post-shopping booth at Elmer's for brunch.
Shelly's birthday always falls on or near Thanksgiving, and I was so excited she gave up sleeping in to hang out with us!
There's no story for this picture, but there was also no reason not to get it.
After storing our purchases, taking naps, and going for a run, we all celebrated Thanksgiving that night at Dave and Dicki's.
We had a ball - family and friends arrived from all over the country.
There were fantastic drinks and amazing food
(And one cute toddler!)
Sorry ladies, he's taken. And not by me.
Ducks were playing - can you blame them?
I love these two pictures
That would be Prego teaching the Minor how to make the perfect margarita.
I don't know them.
While out shopping earlier that morning we realized that since Kim is so far away we weren't all going to be able to make it to a baby shower, and Kim wasn't sure she wanted to have one anyway.. So we sent her home, did a mini baby shopping spree, and threw an impromptu shower after dinner.
She made out well!
It was so fun getting her stuff she really needed and getting to celebrate with her. And bonus - no poopy diaper games!
Gabbers liked it too.
Then it was back to the kitchen to dig into Alice's pies.
Not a bad way to end Black Friday :-)
