Emma Grace and Shamrocks

While Chad and Jess were vacationing in Hawaii this week, Grandma got to babysit little Emmers.  I jetted down to their place Friday night and spent the next day with my mom and Emma shopping in Target, playing in Old Navy, watching a movie, making dinner, and pretty much having a ball with a two year old.
Friday night we went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner, and both Grandma and Emma were on their best behavior.
Then Saturday we ran a few errands and not only was Emma charming the entire time, but she also posed for any fun and/or ridiculous shot I asked her to.
And while Grandma was trying on a pair of jeans, Emma snagged these two...squirrels?...and had them bouncing off the walls in the waiting area.
And we of course ended the day with a "cone."
Saturday night I got a call from Tammy and one of her teammates had dropped out of the Shamrock 8K Run at the last minute and they had an opening.

And I actually said yes!
We ran the ENTIRE thing, we were so proud of ourselves.  With the finish line in sight we looked up and saw Brooke and Calvin cheering us on!  They even jumped into the race and ran the last little bit with us.  This is Portland, so even though the race ended at 9am on a Sunday, there was plenty of free beer and chowder to be had.  But it was raining, so we went to a nice, dry restaurant instead and spent the rest of the day coming down off our runners' high. Or maybe it was just complete disbelief we actually did it.
