Pear Blossom Weekend

Every year Medford, Oregon, pretends its still an uber small town and hosts a harvest celebration affectionately referred to as the Pear Blossom Festival.  The main event is the parade, but the day kick off with a few foot races: a one and two mile walk, a 5K run, and a 10 mile race.

This year, after my successful completion of the Shamrock Run, I decided to sign up for the 5K and Brooke booked a spot in the 10 mile.  We grabbed a few Portland friends and headed south Friday afternoon.
Phil caught a ride down with us and Melissa joined us for a fun girls weekend.

Saturday morning started early and cold.  Dad, Wy, and Kiwi showed up to cheer me on, and after the race began I quickly found Dennis, and later preggo Shelly.
Aside from the cold and the long, straight roads, it was a great experience!

Brooke and Luke participated in the 10 mile and did great, averaging 8-minute miles!
Then after brunch with Dad, Wy, Novie, Laura, and Shey (and the kiddos), I met back up with Brooke and Melissa, Shelly, Gabbers, and our friend Dominique (who drove up from CA) for lunch at our favorite pizza place, Kaleidoscope.
Saturday evening Brooke's dad, Ken, BBQed us steel head salmon at the Snellings'.

After church on Sunday we convinced the Knokeys, Snellings, Schulzes, and Dave to join us at Miguel's on the river in Shady Cove for lunch.
These are some fun folks
I finally arrived back in Portland around 7pm, just in time for a lemoncello tasting across the street at our favorite neighbors' place.
To go with it we feasted on sliders, pretzels, chili and mac-n-cheese.

Great way to end the weekend!
