Willamette Country Music Festival 2013

This last January my friend Tarah emailed a bunch of us letting us know her mom won an extra campsite for this summer's Willamette Country Music Festival, a three day long music/camping extravaganza.  Lex, Brooke and I immediately took the bait, and when tickets went on sale in April we promptly snatched ours up.  We had no idea it would be sold out in a matter of weeks, or that these campsites were high-value property.  And we definitely were not expecting a 15,000 person strong audience in the middle of Brownsville, Oregon.

So Friday morning the three of us set off from Portland to meet up with Tarah and her mom at the festival.  We took our time and rolled in around noon.  When we pulled in we were directed to the last row available for campers, 1.2 miles away from the venue and about a third of a mile from the nearest port-a-potty.
We setup shop, got situated and hiked into the event.
We claimed our spots with our chairs, then started back to the site when we ran into this chica.
Too bad her scooter pooped out, but we got to reconnect and stroll back to the campsite with our long-lost friend!

We ate dinner and caught up before heading back to the venue to listen to the rest of the evening's acts, including Hunter Hayes and Carrie Underwood.
Saturday morning we all slept in and enjoyed a leisurely morning before heading back in to park our chairs for the day's lineup.  We shopped in the little tents lining the venue, and Brooke and I found some shade and busted through a few games of Yahtzee.
We also had a little fun with some new friends we just met, who were being a bit snarky when they claimed their space.  After setting up their chairs, they strung them together with caution tape to keep them together then headed back to their campsite.  We immediately pounced, unstrung their chairs, turned them around, and tied them up again.
I think the best part was them getting back, and having drunk so much all afternoon, thinking they accidentally set them up that way themselves!

Saturday's artists included The Farm and Brad Paisley.
I can't really just sit around and listen to Brad Paisleys music - its a bit too country for me - but I absolutely love listening to his songs in concert.  This is the second time I've seen him in concert and he always puts on quite a show.
We all again slept in on Sunday before slowly packing up and heading back into Portland, sadly missing the last day of the festival.
.Our friend Elise is moving to England in a couple weeks so some of us girls went out to dinner and stroll around the waterfront. Great way to end a wonderful weekend.
