A few months ago Lex and Brooke attended a fundraising event and, thanks to Lex's financing and Brooke's kick-ass dance moves, won a long weekend in Sunriver.
So Saturday morning Lex, Brooke, Dominique and I hit up Petunia's for doughnuts then hit the road for a long, relaxing weekend on the slopes.
Due to a severe storm moving through, we got to the house and immediately took up our default positions for the afternoon and evening:
Dominique reading Entertainment Weekly,
Lex shopping on Rue La La checking in with work,
me forcing Calvin to cuddle with me,
and Brooke cooking.
I was also reading an alien apocalypse book, which kicks off with the aliens launching an EMP, so when the power went out half way through our game of Yahtzee it was more than a little unsettling for the rest of the evening. Thankfully the house was stocked full of candles (which I of course used to read more of my alien apocalypse book).
Sunday morning was ushered in with 7-10 inches of fresh new snow and these two very happy girls were ready to hit the slopes!
So while they did that, Dominique and I swam laps at the aquatic center and took long walks with Calvin.
Sadly she had a customer meeting and had to head back to civilization early afternoon. Luckily (for me) the girls decided to call it a day on the mountain and came back a bit early. After they cleaned up, we drove into Bend for dinner.
Monday morning Brooke and Lex decided to give the mountain another try, so I slept in a bit then hiked back over to the aquatic center (a 45+ min walk each way) to swim laps again, then wandered around the Village.
I (of course) visited Bellatazza, our favorite coffee shop in Bend, specifically for one of these:
YUM.
I took a picture of the above sign and tagged Brianna in it, since she's the one that introduced me to the glorious brown sugar cinnamon lattes, and wouldn't you know it, she and RZ were also in Sunriver, celebrating their anniversary.
We all met up at Sunriver Brewery for dinner to catch up.
Tuesday morning was spent packing up, cleaning, and watching Fast & Furious 6 - the PERFECT way to end a vacation.
The way back was peppered with lattes, pop music and mountain views.
Seriously, we get to live here!

This has got to be one of my favorite all time posts of yours! The last pic made me laugh.
So, so happy! My favorite part of the trip: discussing what we would do if we won the lottery, which turned out to be a slightly more cushy & philanthropic version of the exact lives we currently live :-)
